BMI was founded to help promote quality baseball instruction and effective coaching. Utilizing up-to-date technology, the internet, as well as hands-on baseball instruction, BMI desires to prepare athletes for the next level whether that level is little league, or collegiate baseball. A note from Nate Barnett on the value of BMI: Background: As a young athlete who grew up in a rural area north of Seattle, I didn’t have the same opportunity to gain information and high level training as an athlete who grew up in an urban, or suburban environment. It just wasn’t logistically possible for my parents to escort me a few times per week to a baseball training facility or to play for a club team. At the same time, very few club teams existed in our rural community for the simple fact that many of the leagues were too far away. My love for baseball and hard work allowed me the opportunity to play collegiate baseball. It was at that time, I finally received some higher level baseball instruction. I continued to learn what I could from my college coaches and then encountered a whole new level of instruction and training as I went on to play in the Seattle Mariners Organization in the minor leagues. At each level, I experienced an environment that challenged my ability, and tested my training both physically as well as mentally. Though my career ended in the minor leagues, I had a wonderful and fulfilling experience and was taught so many skills that I now apply in different endeavors. Foundation of BMI In the summer of 2007, I began to think of how I might be able to bridge the information and training gap I had experienced during my career. I am a firm believer in personalization, and flexibility in training, and I understand full well the time and scheduling demands on parents of youth athletics today. Because of this, I wanted to create a type of baseball instruction that retained high quality, but could be obtained without traveling great distances. I am excited to see how this form of training will impact the youth baseball community and develop prepared athletes for the future. |
