MLB Players Using Baseball
Psychology
|

It's the final game of the playoffs - you're team is down 4-3 in the bottom of the last inning with
runners on second and third base. You're on deck as you watch your teammate strike out in
front of you. As he passes you on the way to the dugout he quietly mumbles something about
the pitcher's nasty curveball. As you approach the batter's box with a 10-game hitting streak
under your belt, you strangely find that your hands are beginning to sweat and your mind is
racing... Is his curveball really THAT good? Should I look curveball first pitch? What if I
strike out to end this game?
This is the situation where you hope you have spent some time on your baseball
psychology. It doesn't matter who you are, or how good of a season you are having,
eventually your mental game will get tested. At that point it's too late to prepare
yourself.
Professional baseball scouts today are not just evaluating your physical performance. Any
scout will tell you that your mental makeup is just as important. It's worth it this season
to learn a few tactics these MLB players use to improve their baseball psychology.
Here's a short video clip of how baseball psychology is
used at the Major League Level.
